LT Voters Approve $191M Capital Referendum

    On Tuesday, November 5, 2019, voters in the MSD of Lawrence Township approved the first ever district referendum. The last in Marion County to pursue a referendum, Lawrence Township Schools will utilize the additional funds for much needed facility upgrades at the two high schools, four elementary schools, and the four early learning centers.
    “This is a huge win for public education,” shares Superintendent, Dr. Shawn A. Smith. “We have strong schools and a strong community. Many thanks to our constituents who voted to approve this measure, supporting current and future generations of Lawrence Township students.” Board of Education President, Reginald McGregor adds, “Our public has voted in support of this need, and for that we are grateful. The Board of Education remains committed to open communication and transparency throughout the duration of these projects.”
    The $191M will be paid over the course of the next twenty years at a tax increase of .2499 cents per
    $100 of assessed valuation.
